Getting Started

What does BestBy do?

BestBy helps you track expiry dates for everyday items — food, medicine, beauty products, household goods, documents, electronics, and more. It reminds you before things expire so nothing goes to waste.

How do I add my first item?

Tap the + button on the Dashboard or Inventory screen. Enter the item name, select a category, set the expiry date, and optionally add a photo, location, quantity, and notes. Tap Save.

Can I add a photo to an item?

Yes. When adding or editing an item, tap the photo area to take a picture with your camera or choose one from your photo library.

Notifications & Reminders

How do I enable expiry reminders?

When you first add an item with a reminder, the app will request notification permission. You can also enable it manually in iOS Settings → Notifications → BestBy.

When will I receive a reminder?

You choose how many days before expiry to be reminded (configurable per item). You can set the time of day (morning / afternoon / evening) in Settings → Notifications.

I'm not receiving notifications. What should I check?

1. Go to iOS Settings → Notifications → BestBy and make sure notifications are enabled

2. Check that the item has "Notify X days before" set to more than 0
